It’s official, winter is here and so is the struggle of getting ourselves to the office on a cold and gloomy winter’s day. There’s no doubt that it can be a challenging task to get through the winter period for most office workers but with some tactical coping strategies in place, we’re confident here at Calibre that you’ll be just fine this year.
Let’s get started on how you can start your winter off on the right foot…
Winter tip 1: got a cold? avoid spreading it in the workplace
It’s simple, if you feel a cold creeping up on you and are experiencing all the common symptoms of one then stay at home until you feel better. Let’s face it, most of us are guilty of attending work during sickness because we want to avoid our work piling up but this isn’t a bright idea because it will at some point affect the colleagues around us too. The moral of the story is, stay at home until you’ve fully recovered from your cold.
Winter tip 2: equip yourself with an electric heater at your workstation
Another wise idea would be for office workers to keep a compact electric heater at their office desk to keep extra warm if the central heating system is not proving effective enough for them. It will surely not take up too much room as you can just safely store it in one of your office storage spaces after usage every day. Perhaps you can also consider adding a pillow to your comfy office chairs for extra warmth and relaxation.
Winter tip 3: wrap up warm
It is highly recommended that you bring out your warm and cosy office clothing during the winter months when heading to work. Your winter wardrobe would typically include anything ranging from jumpers, scarves, gloves, long-sleeve tops, hats, etc. It is entirely your choice on what your winter dress code will be this year.
Winter tip 4: keep refilling your coffee mug with hot drinks
Nothing beats the satisfying feeling of holding a hot cup of coffee or tea during the winter season. The reality is that the consumption of hot drinks is always trending in most office spaces all year round but a great deal more during the winter. Our advice is to keep refilling your mug as and when you can throughout the course of the day.
On the whole:
It’s fair to say that working during the winter months can become extremely difficult especially for office workers, who are often glued to their computer screens for majority of the day. There are however, a number of ways for you to overcome the winter blues, a few of which have been outlined above. Try these out and see if these work for you too this year.
