Calibre’s Favourite Blog Of The Week: Scents That Can Help Stimulate Your Mind In The Office

Published on 18/08/2017

We wanted to try something slightly different this week on the content front. Instead of sticking to the usual factors that improve employee productivity such as different type of trendy office furniture, we thought it would be interesting to go down the aromatherapy route.

According to a superb and inspirational article that we came across by CATS, aromatherapy is the process of ‘spicing up the air articles with aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from plants to improve a person’s mood and psychological well-being’.

Check out a few of our favourite segments of the article below:

Productivity booster one: Cinnamon

We could greatly familiarise ourselves with this one! There is no doubt that many of us at Calibre Office Furniture have experienced the “2.30 crash” especially after having a heavy lunch. We would be in denial if we didn’t admit feeling a great level of fatigue at our desks and almost nodding off on our office chairs. Thank god for coffee and the cinnamon smell in the air!

To our surprise, the cinnamon aroma helps overcome mental fatigue and reduces the feeling of wanting to hibernate and fall asleep at our office desk.

Productivity booster two: Jasmine

We are no strangers to jasmine green tea at our office, that’s for sure! Although several of us health addicts here knew jasmine green tea was fantastic for increasing metabolism; it was also great to discover that it’s highly fragrant aroma can assist with calming nerves and produce feelings of increased confidence and self-esteem.

Productivity booster three: Camomile

As most of us will be aware, camomile can help a person relax and get a good night’s rest due to the anti-anxiety properties that it contains. The beauty of this scent is that you can practically use it anywhere including at the office and at home. You can consequently feel relaxed all the times even when you’re at extremely dull and laborious meetings trying your best not to fall asleep at the conference table.

Overall Views:

We really enjoyed learning about the various scents that can help boost staff productivity especially because aromatherapy isn’t an area we’ve ever explored before. We hope that we have also helped you broaden your knowledge further around this topic area. The main question is now, which scents will you try out in your office in the upcoming future?
