This isn’t just about being nice and decent, it’s about knowing that if you do that, your employees will work harder for you.
Look at it this way. If you were working in an office, sitting at your office desk every day, and you felt not listened to, bored with your job, and stressed with unfair deadlines, would you really want to do more than the mere basics? Probably not. You would do what you have to do in order to get through the day, get paid at the end of the month and go home at the end of the day. That’s the same situation for everyone.
However, when an employee feels valued, listened to, motivated, and excited by the work they’re doing, the opposite situation occurs. They want to work harder, they want to come up with new ideas, they enjoy collaborating and solving complex problems with creative thinking. The office becomes alive with smiles and the hum of work. The entire situation turns on its head.
Increasing productivity can be as simple as just ensuring that your employees are happy. Of course, there’s more to it.
Much of this comes down to management. Good management will empower employees and make them want to go the extra mile. Poor management will cause employees to become disengaged and make them want to look for employment elsewhere. It’s not difficult to understand the effect that management has.
Make sure that your employees have an inspiring, comfortable, and attractive office in which to do their work. Ensure that their office furniture is comfortable and suitable for their needs. Go for economic desks and chairs and look towards designing comfortable break areas so they can spend their down time without feeling stressed out.
It’s really not so difficult to work out - a happy office means a productive business.
