Alternatives to Coffee

Most of us reach bleary eyed for the kettle or the coffee pot in the mornings, attempting to wake ourselves up when our eyes want to remain closed. Coffee has long been the drink of choice of a quick boost of energy and alertness, but what if you don’t like coffee?
And, what if you’re attempting to be a tad bit healthier and avoid the risks of too much caffeine in your day?

There are several alternatives you can try in an attempt to remain awake at your white office furniture and keep your productivity levels high. Perhaps you want to avoid coffee altogether for a health reason, or maybe you want to switch things up and see if you can find another beverage or method which gives you a boost first thing in the morning, and therefore drives your productivity until lunch time.

Let’s check out a few suggestions.

Match Green Tea Powder

We all know that green tea is good for your health, but match green tea powder could go one further and give you an energy boost in the mornings too! This is the powder of a green tea leaf and it is packed with a specific amino acid (L-theanine) which boosts brain power too. The other plus point is that match green tea powder has caffeine in it, but not as much as coffee, and still gives you the energy boost.

Water

A glass of water, perhaps flavoured with a little fresh lemon or lime juice is a great morning pick me up and can be sipped throughout the day to keep hydration levels up. Did you know that most of the time when you feel fatigued and tired at work, you’re actually thirsty and perhaps suffering from mild dehydration? Making sure you drink plenty of water will give you greater energy and brain focus, so make sure you get around 8 x 8oz glasses per day to fulfil your daily quota. This could be enough to give you plenty of ideas to share around your modern workspace furniture when collaborating on a new project.

Walk to Work

Yes, you did read that right. Whether rain or shine, walking to work will give you a boost of energy and get your brain flow going for the morning. In addition, you’ll get the other health benefits of exercise too, such as weight management, heart health, diabetes risk lowered, and mood boosts. Find a colleague or friend who is walking in the same direction as you and you’ll get a social boost at the same time!

Green Smoothie

A smoothie in the mornings will keep you full until lunch, and stop you from falling asleep in that boardroom chair!  Avoid high fruit content as this contains natural sugars, which may give you a sugar crash at some stage during the morning. Instead, why not enjoy a delicious green smoothie? Incorporating more green content in your general diet can naturally increase your energy levels, simply because of the antioxidants and the fantastic nutrition you’ll be consuming. Avoid shop bought smoothies and make your own to save cash, and cut down on added sugars.

Yerba Mate

Another herbal-type drink at your office desk in the mornings is yerba mate. This is derived from the ilex paraguariensis plant (native to South America), and gives you a coffee high without the extra caffeine. It also has a similar taste to mocha, i.e. a little coffee and a little chocolate, so it tastes great at the same time!

The Right Working Environment

It sounds simple, but the best office space planning and right furniture choices can give you a boost just like coffee!
Think about it
if your chair is uncomfortable and your desk is too cluttered, you’re not going to be in the best frame of mind and therefore lacking in energy. On the other hand, if you have the best office furniture for the job, your working system is right for you, and you enjoy some of the other suggestions we’ve mentioned, you won’t need to reach for the java at all!
