If you’ve been keeping up to date with developments in the office world over the last few months you will no doubt have heard that sitting is out and standing is in. Why? Because a sedentary lifestyle, i.e. sitting for long periods of time at office desks, is bad for your health. It therefore makes perfect sense that standing for a period of time is better in comparison. 

From that we have witnessed the rise of the standing desk, or the height adjustable desk. You can have a fixed desk, a riser, or a desk which adjusts, and all come under the same standing desk umbrella. This is type of office desking method which boosts health and also has benefits for focus and concentration.

Now we know what this type of office desk design is, we need to ask whether this is a suitable option for everyone. It really depends upon the person using it, e.g. if they have any specific barriers to standing versus sitting, and whether they have any health issues, such as back problems. For most people however, alternating between sitting and standing throughout the day is completely suitable, and a great way to boost brain and body.
