Bench Desk Challenges And How to Overcome Them

Bench desks

Do you have bench desks in your office? Many people do and use them to great effect, but they also come with a few challenges too, namely in the form of distractions.

A bench desk is essentially a sleek office desk which is long and can seat several people along it. If you think about the types of units you might have seen in coffee shops, you’re not too far from the mark. These types of office desks are ideal for collaboration, but they’re also ideal for office space planning because several people can sit along them, and they can be placed along a flat surface, e.g. a long wall or under a window.

This also means that you have very little privacy and you’re open to distractions. A good way to counteract this is to use office screens between people, which can be removed when collaborative work needs to be done.

Bench desks are also ideal for touchdown areas, canteens, and breakout spaces, making them a very flexible piece of office furniture to have in your space.
