Does Your Office Flooring Really Matter?

Office Flooring

When you design a new office space, or you want to change up the design you already have, it’s important to think about more than the office furniture you want to purchase and the colour of your walls. Do you give much thought to office flooring types?

A floor is not just a floor in the case of an office – if you make the wrong decision you’re going to end up with excess noise, a potentially poor health and safety at work situation, and a very large cleaning bill!

The main choices you have are:

  • Carpet
  • Carpet tiles
  • Laminate flooring
  • Polished flooring

There are pros and cons to all types, and it really comes down to your office space and what is personally suitable. For instance, if you’re going to have many office desks within your space, perhaps carpets aren’t going to be the most sensible option. On the other hand, polished flooring can lead to extra noise, and you may then need to purchase acoustic panels to cut down on echo.

Creating an ideal office environment isn’t just about quality office furniture and decorative pieces, it’s about having a safe and suitable space too. If your flooring is slippery, reflects the light too much, or creates an echo, it’s not going to be ideal. On the other hand, carpets will need cleaning and they can also create a darker feel to a space in many cases.

Be sure to weigh up the pros and cons of each type before you make a decision. What is your take on office flooring? Do you have a preference?
