We all know that the reception area is one of the most important parts of your space. First impressions are made here, and business can be enhanced or ruined as a result of what visitors see and experience.
Whether you have a glass reception desk or you’ve gone for something solid and wooden, the look of your reception plays a huge part in giving that positive impression. But, what about the feel of it?
How does your reception area actually feel? Is it warm and welcoming? Does it feel serene and chilled out?
Or, does it have a cold and unwelcoming feel. If it has the latter, you need to do some work on changing things up!
A reception doesn’t have to cost the Earth. You can opt for a cheap modern reception desk and have artwork on the walls, comfortable chairs, and a smiling, welcoming receptionist, and you’d be ticking all the necessary basic boxes. You could even go for a themed reception too!
Think about the following:
- Colour – Is the colour on your walls calm and welcoming, like blues and greens? Or, is it red and fiery?
Whilst red looks great, it can be a colour which fires people up - perhaps not what you’re looking for!
- Light – Is there plenty of natural light entering your reception? Or, appropriate replacement light?
Make sure your reception isn’t dark, and giving off an unwelcoming vibe.
- Comfort level – Opt for sofas or a modern office armchair for a cosy welcome for your visitors.
Cold and hard chairs are not the best for this type of space.
A good way to test your work is to have a friend come into your reception area, someone who has never visited before, and report back on what they felt.
