Assessing Morale Levels in Your Workplace

Morale is vital. This is something we’re told time and time again. There are many ways you can increase morale in your workplace, such as encouraging learning, giving staff the types of luxury office desk choices they need for comfort and support, encouraging them to collaborate, and generally looking after health and wellbeing whilst at work.

Check out this video for a few extra ideas on how to boost morale.

But, how can you measure morale once you’ve put these items in place?

There are a few ways.

  • Have regular catch ups with your staff in an informal setting
  • Gather everyone around your boardroom table and chairs and explore new ideas to boost morale
  • Do confidential surveys, to find out about issues that nobody wants to talk about openly
  • Look at your sales levels – if they’ve increased, the chances are morale is high, thanks to more productivity
  • Are your staff coming up with more ideas? This is a good marker of morale
  • Look around the room, are people smiling? Do people look happy?
  • Have your sick day levels decreased?

Morale readings can be as simple as these suggestions. Involving your staff, giving them the space they need to do the work they have, e.g. desk pods or collaborative areas, and having regular checks ins can be enough to figure out where your business stands.
