Incorporate Your Existing Outdoor Space Into Your Office Design

Have you ever heard of Sick Building Syndrome (SBS)? It’s actually a real thing, and links to poor air quality. In that case, your office could actually be making you sick! We all know that office furniture can improve mood, but it turns out many other aspects can do the same.

Getting plenty of fresh air into an office is vital for health and wellbeing, but it’s also important for productivity. With that in mind, many businesses are incorporating outdoor spaces into their office design, e.g. gardens, terraces, even roof spaces!
Is this something your business could try, to bring in a new office desking system?

Of course, it very much depends upon the weather as to employees can actually sit outside and collaborate or brainstorm, and it’s not likely you’ll be able to move your round desks for office use outside, but you can incorporate spaces and perhaps weather-proof them in some way. For instance, do you have a conservatory? If so, you can easily turn this into a breakout space, or even a meeting area. There will be plenty of natural light pouring in, and fresh air when you open the windows. Alternatively, how about a roof space?
Of course, it depends on the weather but open air working is a possibility on good days, with modular office furniture easy to move around.

If your space has a garden, you can also use this to your advantage and allow staff to work outside. There are many suggestions that having meetings outside can lead to greater ideas and solutions, so purchase some easy to move modern office furniture and let those ideas run wild!
