How to Make Staff Training Fun

Fun staff training

Let’s be honest, training days are often more of a yawn than a laugh, but it doesn’t always have to be that way. If you want to engage your staff in your training sessions, ensuring they soak up the knowledge they need without falling asleep in the process, you need to make it bright, colourful, practical, and fun.

Of course, you need the best office furniture to set up your training room, so make sure you do some planning ahead of time and create the right layout for your space. We’re talking refreshments on hand, the right lighting, the right temperature, and a bright atmosphere in general. Many businesses choose to do their training in-house, rather than sending staff on external training days, simply to save money, but it takes time and planning to get it right.

  • Take it outside – Why not take your staff outside, if the weather allows, and conduct some of your training in the fresh air? This boosts concentration!
  • Make it visual – Keep your training session as visual as possible, with videos, presentations, engaging exercises, and plenty brainstorming
  • Keep it practical – Keep everyone moving and doing, rather than sitting and listening all the time. For the times they are listening, make sure that seating is comfortable, perhaps with cantilever meeting chairs, as one example
  • Incorporate competitions and rewards – Everyone likes to win something, so competitions will keep staff engaged and focused
  • Ensure comfort – We’ve mentioned this a few times but it’s so vitally important. Collaborative office desks are a good idea, because everyone can pitch in with ideas and feel involved

Can you think of any fun staff training ideas?
