How to Stay Cool at Your Desk as The Warmer Temperatures Arrive

Stay cool at your desk

The warmer months are just around the corner, and whilst the UK has never been known to be a sweltering summer hotspot, there are days when the heat is on, and it all becomes a little uncomfortable whilst you’re sat in your office chairs

There are no Government guidelines on what temperature is considered too hot to work in, and instead employers have to provide a ‘reasonable temperature’. Basically, that is open to interpretation, as everyone has a different definition of hot and cold!

Choosing the right contemporary office furniture and placing it carefully around the space is the first step to ensuring an office remains cool when the heat is on, but how else can you remain ‘just right’ during these summer months?

Here are a few ideas:

  • Keep windows open to allow air to circulate
  • If the sun is beating in, close the blinds
  • Make use of air conditioning, but ensure it is maintained regularly
  • Desk fans can help air to circulate, but again, ensure they are cleaned regularly
  • Look into mesh chairs, which help air to circulate around the body
  • Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated and cooler
  • Wear thin clothing materials, and cotton instead of synthetic fabrics
  • If you are able to work flexibly, try and avoid the peak sun hours if possible

Can you think of any other stay cool tips?
