Social Ideas For a Shy Workforce

Not everyone likes to socialise with their colleagues outside of work, and not everyone is linked to everyone in the office on their social media accounts. That’s a personal choice, but there are some benefits to a certain amount of social activity between office employees.

A link away from the office environment helps to boost morale and also creates a team atmosphere, which is ideal for collaboration and productivity. Despite that, how can you bring together people who simply don’t feel the need to socialise outside of office hours?

Here are a few ideas:

  • Create a fundraising event and encourage everyone to get involved. You can discuss ideas around the oval boardroom table and make it a real team effort.
  • Have a social evening once every month, either down at the local pub or at someone’s house, and encourage everyone to attend.
  • Have periodic team building days with fun activities to get everyone socialising and connecting.
  • Hold a special lunch event, perhaps once a month, with everyone joining together in the canteen or in the garden (if the weather is good), perhaps for a barbecue. This is ideal for getting everyone away from their desks and boosting morale.

These ideas are all perfectly doable for most businesses, and they’re subtle ways to get everyone socialising away from the office, whilst keeping a work connection there at the same time. You could also have a brainstorming session around the round office desks to ask what ideas your employees come up with.

Can you think of any other great ideas?
