Most of us are given an hour or half an hour for lunch, but other than eating, what can you do with it?
It’s important that you do not eat your lunch at your desk – this is a big no no! By sitting at your office desk for the entire day, without taking a break, you’re effectively clogging up your brain but you’re also avoiding taking regular exercise. A sedentary lifestyle is a huge problem, and is something which most office workers need to be aware of. Get up and move around and grab the health benefits!
So, aside from munching your salad or baguette, what else can you do with your break?
- Head outside for some fresh air – Fresh air is ideal for health and wellness, but is also gives your brain a boost of focus for the afternoon ahead
- Have a chat with a friend – Whilst you’re outside, have a chat with a friend for a dose of feel good factor
- Try a quick exercise class – Do you have a gym on site or nearby? If so, why not try a quick yoga class? Deeply relaxing and great for stretching out tired muscles that have been sat on office chairs for hours!
What shouldn’t you do? Anything which tires your brain, anything which involves work, and anything which you don’t find relaxing! You could also make sure of break out spaces if the weather isn’t so great, which could be furnished with a stand height table or a 6 seater office table for an alternative canteen-style look – as long as it’s not the one you sit at for work!
How do you spend your lunch break?
