Technology has been practically everywhere for many years now, but over the last few years one particular item has come to the fore – mobile technology.
Whilst most people would own up to using their mobile phone a little too much, there is some sense in the idea that mobile technology could actually have boosted productivity. Studies certainly seem to point in that direction. So, how can you use mobile technology in your workplace, to boost employee productivity, and therefore boost your sales and profits?
Easy Portability of Mobile Devices
If you have members of staff who work remotely or who work on the go, having portable mobile devices is a major plus point. Carrying large laptops around can be annoying, but these days a good quality tablet and a keyboard can be sufficient. Most websites these days are mobile optimised, so you can do exactly the same on the mobile version, as the desktop version.
Employees Are Increasingly Available
We just mentioned remote working, and the use of mobile technology means that staff can work from anywhere. If they need to be flexible in their working pattern, e.g. if they have children or other commitments, a couple of days per week working from home could be enough to fit in with the requirements of workplace, and those of the employee too.
Time management apps and collaboration apps are also a great way to keep everyone working on the same page. You can for example do a group video call around a conference table, with some funky meeting room chairs, incorporating the equipment into your office design, without losing out on precious work hours.
Technology You Can Wear
You don’t need to dig around in the drawers of call centre desks to find a phone, you don’t need to factor in large computerised equipment in your office space planning anymore, because technology is getting smaller, and it’s wearable! Watches and earpieces are all ways to take call and access emails on the go. This can be ideal for members of staff who are regularly out and about at different meetings, or for call centre staff.
