The Pros And Cons of Office Carpets

Published on 28/01/2022

What type of office flooring do you have currently?

Many offices have laminate flooring or even wood. They’re far easier to clean and they look the part too. But, have you ever considered carpets in your office instead?

Many people assume that carpets are simply for home offices but that’s not the case. Office carpets can be very good additions to a space and can even cut down on noise too. That’s particularly useful if you have a large and busy office that is difficult to concentrate in.

But, there are also downsides too.

So, if you’re ‘umming’ and ‘ahhing’ about whether to go for carpets in your office or not, let’s look at the pros and cons.

Pros of Office Carpets

  • They look good - There’s no denying that carpets look great. They appear more luxurious and plush and can give your office that sophisticated appearance that will make fantastic first impressions on people who walk in.
  • You can easily clean with a vacuum cleaner - If you’re worried about cleaning, don’t be. Carpets can easily be cleaned with a quick vacuum and they’ll be looking fresh and new in no time.
  • They absorb noise - Carpets can actually absorb noise. So, when employees are trying to concentrate at their office desks, the whole process may become easier if you have carpets.
  • They keep the office warm - During the winter, carpets will hold the warmth in the office and help your employees to feel cosy as they go about their working days at their office chairs.

Cons of Office Carpets

  • They may collect dust - It’s true that all manner of bits and bobs can fall into carpets and sit there until they’re vacuumed. This is even worse if you have a plush carpet that’s quite deep. Of course, you can get around this by making sure that your carpets are vacuumed daily.
  • You can’t clean them as easily as laminate/wood - We mentioned that it’s easy to clean carpets, and it is to an extent, but they're not as easy to clean as laminate or wood. You can’t run a mop over a carpet and wait for it to dry.
  • Spillages can be a problem - Carpets can stain and a coffee spillage could turn out to be a problem unless cleaned with carpet cleaner very quickly. This isn't always possible in a busy working office
  • They’re more expensive - Of course, carpets are more expensive.

So, now you know the pros and cons, will you consider carpets as your new office flooring choice?
