Why Decluttering Your Inbox is an Effective Way to Focus

Decluttering inbox

There is nothing more annoying than sitting at your office chair in the morning, logging into your emails, only to find that you have half a dozen or more which are literally useless. Spam emails are the worst, and they do nothing for productivity, when you’re spending time pressing ‘delete’ on a constant basis.

Decluttering your email is a positive thing on many levels, but in a work setting, getting rid of the emails that you no longer need makes it easier to find the ones you do. Clutter in any way is stressful and distracting, even if you don’t realise it at the time.

If you’re constantly getting junk emails, check out this video for a quick way to declutter.

Of course, it could simply be that you’ve not deleted your old emails for months on end and you have a clogged up inbox. In that case, sit at your office desk and dedicate one hour to getting rid of rubbish. Make sure this hour is during a quieter time, and not when you have a huge amount of work to do! You’ll find that this is an hour well spent, as from that point on, you’ll be far more organised and able to find what you need far faster. This is especially important if you receive a lot of your work tasks via email!

Luxury office desks might look fantastic, but when there’s no work being done because the computer on that desk is clogged up, what’s the point? A little time spent could be the answer, as well as tidying your desk in general.
