Why is it Important For Employees to Feel Like They ‘Belong’ to The Office?

We all know that morale within a workplace is important, but there are many elements which work hand in hand with morale to create the bigger picture. For instance, do you believe that employees have a burning need to feel like they actually ‘belong’ to the office space? Is it all about the luxury office chairs and the decor, or does it run deeper than that?

Think about it rationally. We all want to belong. We all want to be a part of something, be it a family, a team, an office which is achieving great things. This means we have comrades, buddies, people to lean on. This makes us want to work harder, not to let our buddies down. When you look at it that way, you can see how a need to belong ties in with morale.

We live in times when diversity and equality are big talking points, but the bottom line is that everyone should feel they belong and are equally valued. If a member of staff doesn’t feel appreciated, and they don’t feel a human connection with the place they’re spending their working days, are they going to stay? Are they going to feel the need to contribute? No!

An office space needs to be many things. An employer needs to buy stylish office furniture to create a comfortable supportive environment that employees are proud of, but they also need to focus on the feel of the space and how people react emotionally.
If you can do that, and combine it with quality office furniture, productivity should be on the rise as a result of higher morale.
