Standing Desk Essentials You Need

Published on 11/09/2017

There’s no doubt that standing desks in the workplace are trending more than ever before. You are likely to spot a fair amount of these type of desks in nearly every organisation. In fact, a few of our office furniture experts here at Calibre are also great advocates of standing desks.

However, a standing desk alone is of no use if you don’t have the essentials to go with it. We will look at these now. Start taking notes just in case you’re standing desk is not as kitted up as it should be.

Standing desk essential one: Standing Mat

Purchasing a standing mat to go with your standing desk is always a good idea. A standing mat gives you better control of your posture, which in turn reduces the chances of any back pains from developing and it can assist with relieving your existing back problems too. It’s also very comfortable to stand on especially if you’re sometimes standing on it on your bare feet or with only your socks on and with your shoes shifted to the side!

Standing desk essential two: Computer Mount

Apart from the obvious aesthetic benefits that are associated with having a computer mount at your standing workstation there are a few other good reasons why you should own one too. For starters, it provides you with extra support underneath your hands and arms whilst typing or when writing notes. This as a result prevents you from facing any repetitive strain injury (RSI) related issues.

Moreover, it also gives you some additional room underneath the computer mount to keep some of your office essentials especially if you’ve fully utilised your existing office storage solutions.

Standing desk essential three: Comfortable Footwear

Wearing comfortable and sensible footwear at a standing desk is always necessary if you want to avoid suffering from any long-term health related problems. Running shoes, flats or any footwear that has comfortable soles in them are highly recommended. Of course, keep it professional in a work environment and remember wearing heels or any other rigid and inflexible type of footwear is a BIG NO!

To Round-Up:

It’s fair to say that incorporating standing desks at various points of your organisation has become increasingly popular than before. You get the most out of a standing desk if you have matching accessories to go with it otherwise it’s better to just stick to your usual traditional office desks and office chairs. However, standing desks are definitely the way forward, so get buying if you haven’t done so already.
