Could Celebrating Office Birthdays Boost Morale?

Celebrating Office Birthdays and Morale

You might think that the very suggestion of celebrating birthdays in the office is a total waste of time. After all, we’re all at work to earn cash, not eat birthday cake, right?
Whilst that’s true, we have to take into account one very important aspect of a successful business – morale.

High morale within an office isn’t all about ideas and comfortable boardroom furniture, it’s about many other areas too. For instance, part and parcel of high morale is employees feeling valued. Is there any other way to show your employees that you value them by actually remembering their birthday?

We’re not suggesting you throw a birthday party for every single employee’s birthday, but a quick birthday e-card to their inbox could be enough to give them a boost of feel-good factor on their special day. When someone remembers your birthday, you feel good, and when you feel good, you want to do more. That is exactly what morale does, and that is why there is such a direct link between morale and profits

So, exactly how can you do this? Here at Calibre Office Furniture we’re big advocates of the feel-good factor within a workplace, and we understand just how beneficial it can be for business at the end of the day. All you need to do is set up a database of employee birthdays, and have reminders sent a day before. An e-card can then be generated and sent to the person celebrating their birthday, and everyone is happy! You could even attach  voucher for a free cupcake at the canteen!

We spend so much time at our office desks throughout our working lives, so when someone does something seemingly small, like remembering a birthday, it really does make a far bigger difference than you might originally think.
