Let's Discuss: Design Your Home Office For Maximum Productivity

Published on 14/11/2018

You might think that working from home sounds like the dream. It is in some ways, but getting the office design part of it right can be tricky. Your office space needs to be clear of your home environment, but it needs to be not too ‘officey’, because that’s what you’re trying to get away from!

We recently found came across a greatly handy infographic by Ragan, which has some interesting advice for designing your office and keeping it ultra-productive.

For instance, many home workers simply sit on their sofa or in bed, but that’s a big no! Investing in quality office desks and supportive office chairs is a must. Bad backs need to be avoided. Office storage is an issue too; you don’t want it to stand out as if you’re in a commercial office, so getting creative with home office storage is a good idea.

Other things you might not have thought of:

•   Keep your office warm

•   Try some quiet background music

•   Use desk lamps for good lighting

•   Decorate with a calm colour, e.g. blue or green

•   Work in small milestones, to avoid productivity slumps

•   Avoid sitting near the window, you’ll only see a friend and be tempted out for coffee!

Working from home takes self-discipline, but it’s a great way to go. Be sure to invest in supportive, quality office furniture pieces for your home office. There are many London office furniture choices, which will easily fit into your home decor and give you a productive, stylish space in which to work.
