Are you future proof?

We live and work in an ever changing world, and that means a constant need to update skills in order to stay relevant. It can be stressful, trying to stay ahead of the game and remain employable in so many ways, but the good news is that you can remain up to date skills-wise by simply knowing what you need. Research is key!

The modern day office is likely to change quite a lot in the future, but so are the employees who work within it. So, what kinds of skills are likely to be required in the future workplace? What do you need to make sure that you’re future proof and ready?

Here are are a few ideas:

  • The ability to think fast and on your feet
  • Collaboration and team work in far greater amounts than currently
  • Fantastic communication skills, both verbally and via digital means
  • Being able to collaborate virtually as well as in person
  • Problem solving, but in a more complex manner
  • Creativity and not being afraid to go for the less road travelled when solving issues
  • The ability to use Cloud software and storage methods to its maximum potential
  • Being able to use and understand artificial intelligence (AI) models

As you can see, we’re moving into a far more digital age, and whilst we’re not supposed to worry about robots taking over our jobs just yet, we do need to know how to work side by side with intelligent machines more than ever before.

There are somethings that will never change however. We’re talking about being able to fit into an office environment well, be personable, be able to use a wide range of software packages, and have the ability to always be flexible and eager. The modern day office might be different to the future one, but you can certainly stay ahead of the game.
