How to Avoid Boredom in Meetings

Boring Conference Meeting

Boardroom boredom, something most of us have experienced at least once in our working lives. That meeting just seems to go on and on, and no matter how many times someone tries to steer it in the right direction, i.e. towards conclusion, another person chips in to throw it off track once more. Annoying!

You can create a room stylish with designer office furniture choices, but unless the actual content of the meeting remains on track, boredom is going to set in. So, how can you avoid the inevitable dullness of a meeting which seems to never end?

First things first, the meeting should only be taking place if there is a real need to have it. We waste far too much time in meetings we don’t need! Secondly, the agenda needs to be concise, and the person Chairing the meeting needs to do their very best to keep it on track. You should also make sure that you choose a venue which isn’t dull and uninspiring in the first place. Many modern contemporary office furniture options can be introduced to create innovative and super-comfortable meetings rooms, and you could even think about themed meeting rooms. Yes, really! These are ideal for keeping everyone tuned in to what is going on, and inspiring new ideas to come to the fore.

Not only does meeting room furniture need to be comfortable and supportive, but it needs to fit in with the design of the room. Go for bright colours, add in some natural elements and think about artwork on the walls. These are all ways to keep those in the meeting alight with ideas, and not falling asleep with boredom! You could even inject some technology here and there.

Have you ever been so bored you fell asleep in a meeting?
