Our discussion today will be based on the excellent short YouTube video we came across by Daniel H. Pink on how to create motivation at work. It’s clear from the video clip shown below that the workplace has certainly evolved along with what motivation actually means to workers in this day and age. Did you enjoy the watch? We absolutely did! Below are a few key learnings we thought would be worth highlighting for our readers:

• Seeing workers as just resources is an outdated attitude to have for employers. In reality, work tasks have become a lot more complexed than before and so people’s way of thinking! Agreed?
• The key to keeping your office workers happy is to essentially give them as much autonomy as possible. So the trick is, more autonomy and less control and you’re a winner. Feeling stuck on how to exactly create an autonomous business culture? How about providing hot-desking solutions?  This would entail workers sitting anywhere around the office like the reception sofas as and when they feel to take a break from their permanent workstations. This my friends, is a prime example of encouraging autonomy in the office!
• This video clip also emphasises the importance of working in teams to empower each other. While this is completely true, it would also be a good idea to offer office screen options for office workers who wish to have some privacy at times.
• Moreover, motivation in the modern workplace is not just about having monetary rewards anymore. It’s also about creating a positive, creative and innovative work environment. In other words, you should ideally try to put a great focus on the intrinsic type of rewards such as professional growth, if you want your staff members to perform extremely well.

Perhaps carrying out creative and inspiring boardroom meetings for example with the help of modular office furniture and other funky office furniture items will be a great starting point? What are your thoughts on this?
