How to Prioritise Effectively

Being able to prioritise your workload in an effective manner basically means you’re cre-ating more hours in a working day. It sounds like magic, right? In some ways it is.

The problem is, not that many people know how to prioritise properly!

It’s no good having one of the most up to date, super-modern office desks, if whatever you’re doing when sat at that desk isn’t productive! First things first, your desk should be tidy and then you have a clear mind and a clear foundation on which to begin. From there, you need to clear your mind of all the tasks you need to do, by writing them down.

Write everything down, no matter how small or meaningless it seems. Opening the mail is still a task! From there, look at your list and anything which can be done in under two minutes, do it now and get it out of the way. You can then tick something off your list straightaway! Now, look at the rest of your lists and work out which item is the most im-portant. The is number one. Obviously, you’re going to do that first. Then work down the rest of the list and number them in order of importance, with now number 2 being the next most important, up to whatever number of tasks you have.

Now? Get on with those tasks!

You can tackle this two ways - you can have an overall to do list which might span a whole week, or you can have one which is daily. Whichever method you opt for, the im-portant thing is the order in which you do the tasks. By working within priority order, you make sure urgent things are done and deadlines are met.

Look how easy it is! Pair with some new funky office furniture and you’ll be efficient and sleek at the same time!
