Set Achievable Targets at Work

Work is full of deadlines and targets, whether around the boardroom chairs or at your regular desk, no matter what type of role you’re in. In order to achieve these targets in the least stressful way possible, it’s important that targets aren’t unrealistic.
Nobody should be inviting stress into their lives, and setting unrealistic goals and targets is a fast track towards stressful situations which could easily snowball out of control.

So, how can you achieve targets that are achievable and therefore less stressful? You need to be SMART.

A contemporary office, one which is inclusive and cares about its staff, needs to ensure that all targets are SMART.
That is they should be:

  • Specific
  • Measurable
  • Achievable
  • Realistic
  • Time-bound

By ensuring you tick these boxes, targets are completely achievable and should actually be quite motivating!
Deviating away from these rules creates targets and deadlines which are unrealistic, difficult to achieve, and extremely stressful. You’re basically setting yourself up for failure.

Of course, ensuring you have the best office furniture and equipment for the job also ensures that your targets are entirely achievable, helping to create an office that succeeds time and time again.

Do you have any other ideas for setting achievable targets?
