Reception Desk Dos And Don’ts

Reception Desk

We all know that the reception area is the place where first impressions are born and stick. With that in mind, what are the mains dos and don’ts of this special place?

We tend to think more about the things we should do, but don’t tend to know that much about what we shouldn’t do, apart from the obvious. For a rather humorous, but actually quite serious, take on what you certainly shouldn’t do at your reception desk, check out this video.

You might laugh at much of it and wonder how anyone could think these things are acceptable, but you’d be surprised at how many people don’t place a huge amount of importance on their reception area. Your sofas need to be clean, your entire reception area needs to be uncluttered and tidy, your walls need to be bright and welcoming, and your receptionist needs to be highly trained and polite at the very least.

The bottom line is that the person sat behind that reception desk holds the power to actually make or break your business! Truth! If they can make a visitor’s experience easy and smooth, leaving a positive impression, the chances are that person is going to return to your business for future purchases of goods or services, whatever it is that your business provides. If however they create a negative and difficult experience, you’re probably never going to see that customer or client again.

What did you think of the video? Did any points stand out to you?
