The Welcome Development of Open Air Offices

Open-air office Nice

During the summer months, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to sit outside and do your work, breathing in all that fresh air? The idea sounds great, but of course, there are allergies, wasps, and all other issues to deal with!

Just thinking about it improves your mood though, doesn’t it? That’s because fresh air is a true mood booster, and a great productivity booster too. Fresh air can also help to minimise sickness within the office.

With this in mind, many businesses are choosing to create open air offices. This isn’t exactly what it sounds like; you’re not going to move your best office furniture outside to deal with the elements! Instead, these are offices which have terraces, so if you want to sit outside you can, but if you don’t want to, you’re still benefiting from the circulation of fresh air and plentiful sunshine (hopefully!).

The thinking behind these open air offices is due to many studies into the productivity levels of staff increasing when there is improved air quality. It has also been found that office workers in the UK spend extremely little time outside – the average Briton spends 92% of the day indoors; sat around oval boardroom tables, workstations, or regular desks, not benefitting from Mother Nature.
