Nobody enjoys searching for new staff members, going through the interview process, all the paperwork, training them up and then waiting for them to be up to speed.
It’s far better to have a blend of experienced staff members and new staff members, meaning that you’re not constantly recruiting staff over the long-term.
So, how can you keep your highly experienced and trained staff members and do your best to discourage them from leaving your business?
It’s actually easier than you think!
- Listen to your employees and encourage them to contribute ideas and suggestions
- Ensure their office workstation is comfortable and supportive
- Have an open-door policy which encourages employees to talk to management about problems, rather than trying to deal with them alone
- Do your best to encourage a positive working environment, which is fun, colourful, bright and inspiring
- Treat your employees as people and not numbers!
It really does come down to the basics, and if you can cover those, you’ll have a far greater chance of hanging onto your experienced staff members for much longer.
