Why Career Progression is Important For Morale?

Career Progression

When you take a new job, are you planning on staying in that role for the rest of your working days, or do you have one eye on progression? Most people take a job and think about the prospects for the future, perhaps sitting at a CEO office desk, and that’s entirely normal. Wanting to move upwards, or even sideways, within a company shows drive and desire to improve.

For businesses, it’s important to provide employees with career progression opportunities for so many reasons. Two are more important than the others - firstly, promotion opportunities help with retaining quality staff, and secondly, it boosts morale in a huge way.

No business wants to continually recruit new staff; the process is long and tedious. It’s far better to retain highly trained, quality staff within the business. When employees know there is scope for progression, they’re far more likely to stay with the company, rather than look elsewhere, perhaps towards a competitor. Fair promotion also helps boost morale because staff know that if they work hard and go for promotion opportunities, they have an equal chance at succeeding.

All of this helps with morale. Of course, it’s equally as important to provide your staff with a comfortable and supportive workspace too, perhaps with executive office chairs and breakout spaces, as just two suggestions. A high end office environment is a place that staff want to work in, and whether they go for promotion or not, knowing that the opportunity is there helps to create a happy and healthy environment.
