Do you give much thought to your overall health and wellbeing whilst you’re sat at your office desk? We’re talking about things other than stretching occasionally, having breaks, and eating your lunch. Do you give much thought to how much water you’re drinking?

Most of us don’t drink enough fluids throughout the day. It doesn’t necessary have to be water per se, it can be juice, coffee, tea etc, but water on its own is far healthier. The general guideline on how much water you should be drinking every day varies, just like the five a day, nine a day, whatever number of fruits and vegetables we’re suppose to consume these days. In general, you’re supposed to drink about two litres of fluids every day, which is 8 glasses of 8 ounces (8x8).

Check out this video for more information on exactly happens to your body when you’re dehydrated – it’s scary stuff!

If you’re noticing any of the following symptoms during the day, it could be that you’re dehydrated whilst you’re sat in your office chair, whizzing your way through your to do list:

  • Not going to the toilet to pee as often, and when you do, it’s dark coloured
  • Your skin is dry
  • You feel very tired and unable to concentrate
  • You feel irritable or confused
  • Dry mouth
  • Sore eyes

If you regularly notice these things, it’s time to think about how much water you’re drinkng. Why not keep a large bottle of water on your desk and make sure that you drink it all by the end of the day. That’s half of your regular amount already sorted out. When you combine this with a healthy diet, it’s even possible to lose weight whilst you’re working in an office environment too!
