Desktops or Laptops – Which is Best in a Modern Office?

Published on 08/04/2019

Desktop vs Laptop

We have such a huge choice of technology these days, it can be hard to pinpoint which options are best. In terms of hardware, there are three main options to choose from – desktop, laptop, or tablet. Tablets aren’t the best for typing on, although they are a useful choice if you’re heading out of the office. With that in mind, let’s focus on the other two.

Do you prefer a desktop, or are you a laptop person? Both have their pros and cons, but in terms of a modern office, is there a clear winner?

Actually, no. It really depends on the type of work you’re doing, and the type of face you have. A sleek office is always going to look the part with laptops rather than huge monitors, but there are many seriously stylish desktop computers these days, and the larger monitor is certainly better for eyesight and also for ensuring a better posture for employees too.

Desktops tend to be more powerful overall than laptops, although you can purchase some high spec options which counteract that claim. As you can see, there really is no clear winner in this fight!

If you’re looking to incorporate a new office desking system, perhaps you’re thinking of trying hot desking, then laptops offer a more personalised route for staff who might find the change difficult otherwise. Having cloud storage for files rather than items being stored on the computer itself is also a useful route to go down.

The bottom line is that contemporary office workstations look stylish with either hardware choice, and it really comes down to which type of machine has the power to do the job you need it to do.

Can you pick a clear winner between the two?
