4 Ways to Include Recycling in Your Office Environment

We’re becoming more and more aware of the need to take action against climate change. This should have been pressed harder many years before now, but it’s not too late to make a major difference to the situation.

As part of your office design, you can include recycling and push forth the need to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Focusing upon the planet is never a bad thing and by doing so, you show your employees that you’re making a difference, you care, and that helps to boost morale too.

So, how can you include recycling in your office design and do your best to make a difference to the world we live in?

1. Install recycling bins - The simplest way to start recycling in your office is to install recycling bins for different types of materials, such as paper, plastic, glass, etc. Encourage your employees to use them and have them emptied on a regular basis by a recycling company, or the local council if they offer that service.
2. Reusable water bottles and water fountains - Rather than employees using disposable water bottles, encourage them to use reusable ones and have water fountains dotted around the space so they can top them up as they need them. This drastically cuts down on plastic waste.
3. Get rid of single use cutlery and straws - If you have a canteen, get rid of any single use cutlery and plastic straws and instead go for washable versions. Also, encourage your employees to bring their own cutlery to work and wash it, along with usable straws, rather then the disposable types.
4. Cut down or eradicate printing - Ask people not to print or to print double sided if they need to. Opting to go paperless is a great way to be more planet conscious but it's also far more productive too.

Cutting down on the amount of waste your office produces and being more environmentally conscious is a great addition to your business and your overall office design.
