Why Remote Working is a Blessing For Some Office Workers

Published on 27/09/2021

Working remotely isn’t for everyone. However, for those who request it, many find that it’s a great way to have a positive home and work-life balance.

If you're not aware, remote working means that you work somewhere other than the office. You may work at home all of the time or some of the time, or you may work from a co-working space. You might work from a beach on the other side of the planet too! It just means that you’re still doing your job, you’re just doing it from another location.

For remote working to be a success, you need to have high quality Internet, be committed to staying in touch with the office, and in some cases, work specific hours. However, if an employee is working from another time zone, that doesn’t always have to be the case.

Check out this infographic which outlines the benefits of remote working and gives some useful tips too.

So, why is remote working a blessing for some employees and not others?

Not everyone wants to work away from the office. Some prefer to be in the office and around their colleagues. That’s fine. That’s what works for them. However, other employees have responsibilities outside of work that they struggle to meet when working full time at their office desks. For them, the chance to work differently is a blessing indeed.

Of course, it could be that an employee has aspirations to travel the world. They can’t do that if they’re working in an office full time. Remote working allows them to do that while still earning money and keeping their job.

It could be that someone wants to work from home because they have young children. In that case, setting up a space with high quality home office furniture allows them to carry on with their career, while still having time for their family. They may choose to work all the time from home or just a few days per week, with a day or two in the office.

Put simply, it’s flexible and that’s what some people need to find job satisfaction and a home and work-life balance. Businesses then get to keep their experienced and highly trained employees and they don’t have to go back down the recruitment route once more.
